MAD!

Thought I was angry about something, didn’t you? In fact its just the opposite. Marvel announced today that Joe Mad will be drawing a new Spiderman comic called The Avenging Spiderman in November. I can’t wait. I know some are put off by Joe’s style but I love it and always wondered if he would ever be back at Marvel again. That he is on a Spiderman book is icing on the cake.

I am wrapping up the Deadington script. It is taking longer than I thought as I add more scenes that just need to be there. The story is certainly going places that I never thought it would. Cool.

Once the Deadington script is in the reading and revising stages I will also be polishing Count Obsideo for a new comic book pitch. We’re talking space action and monsters galore. Goodbye Earth.

Will also be writing another 5 page sample for writers to try out on that will be different in tone then the Spiderman one I have posted already. That’s all for now.

Obligatory Lament

Woe is me! There. I’m over it now. Kinda.

So by now you probably have guessed correctly that I still have not found an artist for either Count Obsideo or Deadington. Thus placing these projects in limbo.

I have come up with another project that I am trepidatious about to say the least. It involves drawing again and- GAK! I almost said too much. I don’t want to give anything away until I have more sure footing and can say that this is more than a passing fad. I will say that I have always been a fan of the comic strip and include Dennis the Menace, Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes and Hagar the Horrible among my favorites.

That’s all for now. Wish me luck.

So…what’s up with Deadington?

I’m glad you asked.

A few posts ago I said that I was thinking of starting a story and posting a sentence or paragraph or two each week on the blog to keep it updated. It sounded like a good plan at the time. However, it turned into a monster that decided he didn’t want to do my bidding. Not only that, but he prefered to crash through the castle walls and ravage the countryside.

My web story became an idea for a comic book series. It fits very well for a comic book series even though that is not what I started out creating. I have posted a few teasers the last few days and will soon have a proposal for the series posted. I am a bit leery about posting a series proposal on the web but my hope is it’s just too good of a bait for an artist/collaborator to pass up. Plus, by putting it on my website I effectively put a BRANDON JIMISON CREATED THIS stamp on it. Expect a new proposal for Count Obsideo to follow.

I Told You

I told you that I was horrible at posting on blogs. I will attempt to correct this post-haste.

Still waiting to hear back from an editor I sent my childrens story (I Wish I Was a Werewolf) to. If I get a rejection from this individual, I will send a group of queries to all the agents and editors that accept multiple submissions. I plan to start work on the follow-up story (I Vant to be a Vampire) anyway.

I am in the middle of writing a short five page Spider-Man script. I will post it when it is done and any artist that wants to can use it for their sequentials, as long as I get credit for the story. We’ll try going by the honor system on that for now.

I have decided to not finish writing the fourth issue of Count Obsideo. It got to a point where my heart just wasn’t in the story anymore. I have no one to blame for this but myself and will start anew soon. If nothing else, it was good learning experience. Count Obsideo will rise again.

I have few other comic book ideas that need a bit of fleshing out but let me know if any of you artists out there are interested. One involves a female knight super-hero character and another is set in the ’30s or ’40s with a pulp type of hero. Count Obsideo is also in need of an artist.

As always, drop me line if you have a project in need of writing and I’ll see if its a good fit for me.
