As the new year has begun, so too has a new novel. I say novel and not novella, as I am pretty confident this next book will be long enough to be considered a true novel. You see, my next novel is a high fantasy novel and the world building has already begun. This will not be epic fantasy, but fantasy nonetheless…and dark. Think Universal Monsters meets Lord of the Rings. Hoping this will be a series as well.
I have a couple of short stories making the rounds; a Frankenstein monster in WW2 story, and another Kairo story. I should really write one or two more Kairo stories and publish them as a collection.
Still waiting for the Weirdbook Magazine issues that contain more Kairo stories to be out. Seems like that magazine’s publishing schedule has gone off the rails. Hopefully they get things on track again. It is a great magazine for weird stories.
The reception for my last book, Monsterly, has been great (I am assuming since I have only one starred review on Goodreads). If you read it, or any of my books, please leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads. Since I cannot afford to flood Amazon with ads for my books, this is the only marketing I have.
That’s all for now. Catch you later.
My new novella has arrived just in time for Halloween. A creature feature set in 1980s during the Halloween season. You can purchase the eBook or Paperback here.
Hello all. My story Devil Eye, Desert Heart has been accepted into the anthology Reconstructing the Monster by Emby Press. Hop on over to the Emby Press website and take a look at what they have to offer. The anthology is scheduled to be printed in October, which will be perfect for the Halloween season (my favorite time of the year). I’ll be certain to post additional details as they present themselves. Never to early to shock the great marketing beast and set it loose in the village called the internet, so raise the platform and light up the sky.
Just added a new comic book script that was for an anthology. It was accepted to the anthology but no artist was found so it was left out. I feel that there is really no place for it now so I am posting it in hopes the right eyes see it. The Velvet Ace is my own creation and think the story feels suitably old school pulp. Enjoy.
Just a little update on what is happening with my writing. I recently had a four page script accepted for an anthology called Ladies & Gentlemen put out by Water Closet Press in the UK. It is a light bit of pulp set in London featuring a character of my own creation. There is no artist attached to the script yet but I will keep you updated.
I am 60 pages into a novel and am really starting to get my writing legs going. Here’s hoping the next 200 pages go by in a flash.
I am forming an outline for a new idea I have for a comic book character that features rock ‘n’ roll, Norse mythology and supernatural mysteries. It is in the infant stages and may wait to get fleshed out more when I find a dedicated artist to collaborate with. It can join the handful of other ideas I have for comic book series.
I have been seriously considering placing my movie script Deadington in The Black List database. It doesn’t cost a lot and I feel it really is a good script. Will let you know what I decide to do.
Will soon be adding more links to blogs and other pages I think are cool. Check the space over to the side to find them.
That’s all for now.
I am still alive. Now that we have that out of the way…a few things have happened since my last post. I did indeed attempt to start a web comic strip but it did not go as planned. I found that my artistic skills are such that I can make a mean sketch of an idea but cannot for the life of me stick the landing with a polished and finished drawing that I am proud of. I am that I am and that’s all that I am; a writer. That’s not a bad thing.
I have pretty much finished my screenplay Deadington and plan on submitting it to a screenplay contest within weeks. Wish me luck. In the meantime I am hard at work outlining a new screenplay from an idea that I have had for a long time. Its a great concept and, since I have heard that concept is king in Hollywood, it should do well.
Planet Comicon is about to hit Kansas City this weekend and so I have prepared a few script samples and proposals in hopes of finding an artist to help give my creations life. It can only help me that an editor from Marvel will be there this year to review portfolios. I can stand near his table and grab the cast-offs. No artist refuses someone a look at their portfolio.
That’s all for now. Will try to keep in touch more but you can see how that has gone in the past.
