Spider-Man vs The Mummy

PAGE ONE

Panel 1- A small group of people are touring an Egyptian museum exhibit, being led by a female guide. Establishing the museum exhibit is the priority here, the people don’t matter so much yet (Peter Parker is in the tour but we can’t really tell yet.) A few other people mill about touring the exhibit on their own.

GUIDE

Please be aware that, although you may take pictures of the exhibit, flash photography is not allowed. The flash bulb wasn’t invented until the twentieth century.

Panel 2- Close up on the smiling guide, clearly amused at her own joke.

GUIDE

That’s a little museum humor.

Panel 3- Pull back to get a long shot view of the crowd and the guide in front. A light flashes as if from a camera flash bulb.

PETER PARKER

Sorry.

GUIDE

No flashes sir.

Panel 4- Similar view of the same crowd with the guide still in front.

GUIDE

I’m sure that you have watched enough movies to know the ancient Egyptians held a certain fascination with death and the dead. To your left are some of the tools used in the mummification process.

Panel 5- Similar view with some of the crowd slightly displaced to get a better look at the exhibit the guide is talking about (we still can’t see that Peter Parker is in the group but he does have a spider-sense tingling). There is another flash of light just as before.

PETER PARKER

Sorry.

GUIDE

Sir, I am going to have to ask you to leave if that happens again.

PAGE TWO

Panel 1- The Guide begins to motion to the next exhibit.

GUIDE

The casket you are about to see holds a mummy thought to be one of the wives of king Tut-

Panel 2- Splash panel of The Mummy dispatching a couple of security guards. The Mummy looks like your traditional mummy but wearing a black suit, tie, and pants. He also has a fez on his head. His bandages extend from underneath his suit at the wrist and are wrapping around the guards. One guard is in mid-flight and the other is almost completely covered, still trying to point his gun at The Mummy.

The Mummy is paying them little attention. He is more concerned with the sarcophagus exhibit he has entered.

GUARD ONE

(Mid-flight)

Somebody help me!

GUARD TWO

(Wrapped up)

MMMmmmMM.

Panel 3- Close up of a camera sitting in some webbing. The camera flashes.

SPIDER-MAN

(Off panel)

Sorry.

PAGE THREE

Panel 1- Close up of The Mummy as he leans down to say a word to the second guard who is all wrapped up.

GUARD TWO

(Wrapped up)

MMMM-

THE MUMMY

I believe what you’re trying to say is mummy. This one is mine.

Panel 2- The Mummy turns towards the sarcophagus and extends his arm and bandages out to wrap around the lid.

THE MUMMY

And I am hers.

Panel 3- The bandages flip over the lid to the sarcophagus.

Panel 4- A view inside the sarcophagus. The mummy resting there has a large gold necklace around her neck and an ornamental scarab resting on her forehead.

THE MUMMY

We will be together once more and forever.

Panel 4- The Mummy stands over the sarcophagus and sprinkles something like sand directly over the scarab.

Panel 5- Spider-man’s legs swing out and kick The Mummy. The Mummy’s fez falls off.

PAGE FOUR

Panel 1- Spider-Man is standing over the fallen Mummy.

SPIDER-MAN

Somehow, I don’t think a little pixie dust is going to bring your lady back Tut.

SPIDER-MAN

How about you go back in your box.

Panel 2- Close up of The Mummy, furious that he has been disgraced.

THE MUMMY

Insolent cur! I spit on Tutankhamen’s tomb.

Panel 3- Close up of Spider-man from shoulders up.

SPIDER-MAN

Ah. That makes everything crystal then.

Panel 4- The Mummy’s bandages wrap around Spider-Man’s legs and torso. Spider-Man aims his webbing somewhere above them to pull away.

Panel 5- The Mummy pulls Spider-Man closer to him before Spider-Man can position himself to pull away.

PAGE FIVE

Panel 1- Close up of Spider-Man and The Mummy face to face. A couple of bandages now wrap around Spider-Man’s head.

THE MUMMY

You will not interrupt me again. Ever.

SPIDER-MAN

Forever…is a…long…time.

Panel 2- Close-up of Spider-Man’s webbing stuck to the top of a giant obelisk.

Panel 3- Spider-man, still in the clutches of The Mummy, pulls his webbing back using both arms to one side. The Mummy turns to look over his shoulder at what Spider-Man is pulling down on them.

Panel 4- Pull back to show the long view. Spider-Man jumps out of the way as The Mummy is distracted by being nailed by an obelisk.

SPIDER-MAN

I don’t think I’m ready for that kind of commitment.

Panel 5- The Mummy is unconscious and lying underneath the obelisk. Several of his bandages are wrapped around the obelisk as if he tried to stop it from falling on him or lesson its impact.
